Space Group was appointed as designer for part of the new facilities at Shepperton Studios. Under the management of Gardiner Theobald, our consultants joined the design team, collaborating with FBA Architects, Cundall’s MEP, and CIVIC Structural Engineers to design the foodservice facilities for the new Shepperton Studios South project.

The objective was to create a central production unit (CPU) capable of serving two mirrored restaurants for separate tenants. In addition to this, the kitchen needed to support a coffee lounge and hospitality space for events.

Space Consultancy was responsible for the comprehensive design and specification of the interior fit-out for these areas, which included:

  • Internal partitioning
  • Safety and decorative flooring
  • Hygienic and decorative wall cladding
  • General decoration and interior finishes
  • Task and feature lighting
  • FF&E (Furniture, Fixtures, and Equipment)
  • Front-of-house counters and joinery

By the end of stage 4, we had produced a comprehensive technical tender pack, which included:

  • Detailed scope of works
  • Equipment and furniture schedules
  • Construction drawing packs
  • Interior mood boards
  • 3D visualisations

Having successfully won the tender process our teams set to work on the construction phase which included the following feature interior works.

  • Film reel-themed feature lighting
  • New mezzanine floor
  • Slatted hanging light rafts
  • Decorative brick wall cladding
  • A feature projection wall

The project was the largest Space Group had undertaken to date and despite the logistical challenges, the team successfully delivered an innovative and functional design that enhances the operational capabilities and aesthetic appeal of the Shepperton Studios catering facilities.

Our involvement in this landmark project underlines our expertise and ability to deliver complex, high-profile projects on time and to the highest standards.
