The project involved the creation of a new open-style pass, which doubled as a hot buffet counter drop section. Additionally, the client requested a circular bar, full kitchen ventilation system, cold buffet counter, and custom front-of-house furniture.
Initially engaged in a consultancy capacity, we were later awarded the manufacturing, supply, and fit-out works. This marked the first Holiday Inn kitchen to feature a pass-through, and the feedback confirmed that our design perfectly met the client’s requirements. We installed all new equipment, suitable for a 241-bedroom hotel and its updated menu, with energy efficiency and expedited service in mind.
The circular bar presented a complex design that demanded meticulous coordination, as it needed to be installed between four columns. Our engineers meticulously assembled the top onto the base frame in small sections, allowing the countertops to be added afterward. The bar fabrications were then welded in situ, and the joints were polished into the worktop.
Following the designer’s specifications, Space Contract Furniture sourced products from factories in Italy, Poland, Portugal, and the UK. By leveraging our purchasing power, we supplied the products at highly competitive rates despite the ongoing Brexit process. A combination of black wood and metal frames, along with vibrant colours, brought energy to the expansive room. We custom-made large-format wooden sharing tables according to the designer’s requirements, staining them to match a controlled sample. The solid core laminate tabletops in the dining area provided a high-contrast and durable furniture package, ensuring the busy hotel lobby and lounge area will look great for years to come.
